Student Electronic Device Policy WSD A quick guide for families of Elementary Students. RULES & DEVICES What Counts? All personal electronics: cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, AirPods, headphones, tablets, Virtual Reality & gaming devices. When to Put Away? From the first bell to the last bell. Students are also discouraged from using privately-owned electronic devices before school once students are on school grounds. Elementary Rules: Phones must be off & out of sight. Earbuds must not be worn. Smartwatches may be worn but not used. * Devices may be used freely after school. SAFETY & ACTIONS Strictly Prohibited: No Photos or Videos in Private Areas: Restrooms, locker rooms, or without a person's consent No Filming Altercations: Fights or physical aggression. No Bullying or Misconduct: Cyberbullying, harassment, cheating, or accessing inappropriate conduct. Consequences of Violations: 1st Time: Teacher reminder & parent notified. 2nd Time: Kept until end of class. 3rd Time: Kept in office until end of school day. 4th Time: Parent must pick up from school. Repeated offenses lead to further disciplinary actions. HOW FAMILIES HELP Partnership Guidelines: Review Expectations: Discuss guidelines at home. Encourage Focus: Keep devices put away in class. We realize this book may be too hard for some and too easy for others. However, reading it as a family, all children can enjoy the book.
