Meet the GA PTO Board Members

Sheena Miles๐™Ž๐™๐™š๐™š๐™ฃ๐™– ๐™ˆ๐™ž๐™ก๐™š๐™จ - ๐™‹๐™ง๐™š๐™จ๐™ž๐™™๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉโฃ This is my 4th year with Green Acres PTO. I joined the PTO as a way to be more involved with my kid's education. I showed up for my first meeting naively expecting a gym full of parents. What I walked into was a table with maybe 6 women sitting around it. I was inspired by what these women were able to accomplish and wanted to help. I volunteered to be chair of the appreciations committee. The next year I served on the board as VP of Memberships, and this is my 2nd year serving as President. Our organization experienced a lot of growth last year and I'm excited to see what we create this year!

โฃSince becoming involved in the PTO, I have gained a much better understanding of how the school works and how much goes on behind the scenes. I have also established many relationships with the staff and teachers and met a lot of really cool parents in our community. โฃ

โฃAside from being a wife, mom and board member of the PTO, I work as a hairstylist specializing in Trichology and lived in color. In my free time I enjoy camping, travel, crafting, podcasts and wine.โฃ

โฃI'm passionate about building community and hope that you'll choose to be involved in ours.

Hello! My name is Valerie Donley. I am currently serving on the board as the PTO Treasurer. Numbers are my thing! This is my fourth year in my current term, and my seventh year overall as the treasurer. I have served more than once as a room mom - which used to be set up through the PTA - as well as head of the Appreciations Committee for three years.โฃ

โฃI joined the PTA because of another mom who asked me if I would be a room mom. But I did it because I wanted to be โ€œin the knowโ€. Over the years I have learned there are SO MANY more benefits to becoming involved. As a parent who came from outside the school boundaries not knowing anyone in the school, I was able to meet many parents whose kids were friends with my kids. I have been able to create relationships with the principals, teachers and staff who directly impact my children on a daily basis. Creating these relationships has helped me be more involved with each of my childrenโ€™s education. I have also been able to help make an impact on the school and activities that are offered by the PTO. The list goes on.โฃ

โฃAs a mother of five, my โ€œfree timeโ€ is dedicated to them. Family is the most important thing to me. We love camping together, vacationing, playing games and having movie nights.โฃ

โฃBeing part of the PTO is such a rewarding opportunity I will forever be grateful for!โฃ

This is my 2nd year with the Green Acres PTO and 2nd year serving as Secretary. I got involved in the PTO when my oldest started 1st grade as a way to volunteer to help give my children a wonderful school experience any way I could. I quickly learned that the PTO is involved in so many school functions, clubs and events and volunteers help drive it to success. No amount of help or volunteering is too small and every bit helps our kids have such a wonderful experience. I am grateful for the PTO and the community that I have gained from it and hope you join us in making this school year another successful one!โฃ

โฃWhen I am not trying to keep up with my kidsโ€™ sports and activities outside of school, I enjoy staying active, playing pickleball, and skiing with my family in the winter.

โฃI have been teaching for fourteen years.  I have taught in the Ogden and now Weber School District.  I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. My Education includes growing up in Weber School District. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. A Masters degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design, an E.S.L. Endorsement and an Administrator's license. I love teaching and watching all of the students grow and learn. I also strive very hard to instill a love of learning and the importance of being a lifelong learner. My class motto includes: Learning to respect ourselves, respecting others, working very hard, and never giving up! โฃ
โฃ
I love the outdoors, and I enjoy spending most of my time outside when I am not at school. โฃ
โฃ
I have been teaching at Green Acres for the past ten years and have been involved with PTO since then. I am so grateful to still have an opportunity to meet with them as part of their board. I enjoy connecting with them as individuals, parents, and community members. It is vital to connect to the community and the more support the children at Green Acres have: THE BETTER OFF THEY WILL BE! โฃ
โฃ
I am so grateful for this PTO board and the dedication they have to Green Acres School and the Community as a whole.

Brittnie Puente - Volunteer Coordinator

I have two kids and work full time as an Accountant.  With working full time, I wanted a way to be more involved with my kids education since I couldn't be there during the day to help with various volunteer opportunities.  Joining the PTO last year turned out to be a really good way for me to get involved and I was able to get to know more people at the school.

After joining, I was amazed at all the things the PTO does and how hard they work to bring so many fun opportunities to the kids.  I then wanted to be even more involved so I could help working moms like me feel more connected to their kids education, activities, friends, and their friends parents.  Also, because don't all moms like to be stretched a little to o thin?

In my spare time, I like to think of ways to convince my husband that we need more animals, love nutrition, fitness, and watching my kids in their extra curricular activities.

Angie Calvert - Chair of Membership

As a relatively new transplant from our hometown of San Diego, I was eager to find community and help wherever I can because it really does take a village.

It's been refreshing to see how much work our small but mighty PTO accomplishes to ensure our school continues to be the place where our kids can thrive.

Apart from herding my own kiddos as a stay at home mom, in my free time I enjoy traveling, crafting, cooking, thrifting, and going out to enjoy local music.
