We are grateful for the money we receive from School Trust Lands. Due to the changes in the law, we received $38,597 last year. With that money we were able to deliver support and materials as outlined in our Trust Land Plan. These are the results for last year.
Goal #1 Reading- We were pleased with our above average annual growth across the school. Our students achieved 69% growth in their reading proficiency last year. The state goal is 43% annual growth.
Goal #2 Math- According to Dream Box data, our students achieved 61% growth in their math proficiency. Our SAGE math scores showed an increase from 47.2% to 52.8% proficiency over the past two years. At the same time we've been working to improve our instruction and outcomes, the magnet PAL (program for accelerated learners) classes were phased out of our school so I believe our SAGE scores minimize our growth. Even so, last year we had no accelerated students from outside our school area for a PAL class and yet our math scores reached higher than the year before when we sill had the extra class of accelerated students.
Goal #3 STEM- Each student had two Project Lead the Way modules and additional STEM experiences as planned. We had field trips to the Nature Center, Planetarium, Environmental Center in addition to field trips that came to us from the Utah Natural Museum, Water Van, etc.. We also added robotics to 1st grade!
It was a great year and we continue to work to improve the educational experience for our students this year. Our current Trust Land plan is in the main hallway if you're interested in seeing it.

Thank you PTA for a fun carnival
The PTA put on a tremendous carnival this year. The cold, rainy weather didn't stop them, they turned the gym and cafeteria into a festive carnival site. Activities included a fishing pond, golf putting, football throw, face painting, hula hoop contest, bubble blowing contest, bean bag toss and so much more! The carnival food added to the fun atmosphere. Grizby from the Utah Gizzlies showed up, too! He invited our Green Acres Grizzlies to the Utah Grizzlies game on October 28th.
Many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Miller and the many volunteers that made this night possible. Our PTA volunteers contribute so much to make our school a wonderful place to be.
Learning a new way to do two digit multiplication
We did it! Our Grizzly Fun Run was a big success! We had supporters from 27 states, Canada and China! It was a fun event and will provide for many engaging educational activities this year. Thank you for your support.
Earn a math medal- complete 30 lessons on Dreambox before school starts!
Students can access Dreambox from any computer through this web address: https://play.dreambox.com/login/6twa/greena or an I-pad. To access DreamBox on an iPad, search for "DreamBox Math" in the App Store. When prompted in the app, use our School Code: 6twa/greena . Students know how to log into their accounts. We're finding that they enjoy the time and it is having a positive effect on their math proficiency. You can even set up a parent account so you can see how your child is progressing with their math practice. We hope you'll check it out and encourage your kids to login from home. This individualized, blended learning enhancement to the classroom instruction was paid for with Land Trust money appropriated by our Community Council.
